Welcome to the Northwest Ohio Amateur Radio Club Training Page!

Training is undergoing numerous changes as we recruit new Instructors!

Please check back as we will be having classes in 2008

Club Training Information:

On February 23rd 2007 the F.C.C. Dropped the morse code requirement from any of the three Amateur Radio licenses.  This means you no longer are required to learn morse code, at all, period.  It is no longer a requirement

The Northwest Ohio Amateur Radio Club conducts training every Monday night at Radio Hospital located at 610 North Main Street.

The classes cover the necessary FCC rules & regulations, electronic theory, operating practices for the Technician Class Amateur Radio License.  The ARRL Ham Radio License Manual publication will be used as the study guide, and should be purchased before the class starts.  The cost of the book is around $24.95, plus tax and shipping.  You can order the text directly from the American Radio Relay League (1-888-277-5289).  You can also order the text from your local Radio Shack or your favorite book store.

The specific objective of these classes is to promote interest in Amateur Radio, and strengthen the emergency response capabilities of the Northwest Ohio Amateur Radio Club.  Even if you're not interested in emergency response communications, and just want to get an amateur radio license, or are intrigued by how radios work, you are more than welcome to attend the classes.

The training will be geared toward the entry-level Technician class amateur radio license, which has no Morse Code requirement.

The classes are open to the public, and are free of charge.

The Technician class license examination consists of 35 questions, and a 75% score or better is the passing grade.  You can also find the entire Technician class question pool, and associated diagrams further down the page.

There is a testing fee of $14 at the conclusion of the training, to cover the costs of examination materials and postage for sending in the results.  Attendees will be able to sit for an exam at the next regular testing session.  Information on testing sessions can be found here.

Good Luck from all of us, on passing your exam and getting your "ticket."

I will try to grow this page with more information to help all of you in your quest to grow in Amateur Radio.  If you have any suggestions or ideas please E-Mail me at training@nwoarc.info
